Lake County Illinois 2018-2019 Eviction Moratorium Starts Today

Lake County Eviction Holiday Delay

I don’t publicize it here too much because the bulk of our firm’s eviction work takes place in Cook County, but it is worth noting that the Lake County Sheriff has issued a moratorium on the enforcement of evictions beginning today, December 21, 2108, and extending through January 6, 2019.

Like Cook County, Lake County also has a policy whereby evictions may be canceled due to severe weather, as determined by the Sheriff’s Office.

Speaking of the eviction delay, Lake County Sheriff John Idleburg said, “The moratorium is only temporary and will allow families to remain together in their homes during the holiday season, which I believe is important.”
