No Cook County evictions in this cold weather!

I don’t want to state the obvious, but landlords should keep in mind that the Cook County Sheriff is ordered by the Circuit Court of Cook County not to evict tenants when the outside weather is below 15 degrees Fahrenheit.  We have been pretty lucky so far this winter (thank you El Nino!) but with a low of -2 yesterday and projected to be 12 today, this week has resulted in some eviction cancellations and more could be on the horizon if we don’t get a warm-up soon.  As a result, landlords beginning the eviction process or in the middle of the eviction process should assume that evictions will be delayed by at least a little bit by the inclement weather.  Stay warm!
